4 substeps kill map?

hey there, I a rendering out 4k disp maps with MDE3 and all involving subsampling result in a weird falt grey map, which is not usable…

WHY?

damned, please move over to the troubleshoot!!!

I am too tired…

workflow info: model detailed, back to lvl 1, morph target stored, mesh with fresh uv imported, morph switched, at lvl 3 exported, map done based on lvl 3. it looks fine and is functioning quite well with no sampling, but turning on any sampling results in somewhat clipped image, it is either 50 %grey or flat brighter, based on the detail it should have… useless

I am using no scaling or anything…

Update: I tried it on a crappy laptop with dual core and 2 gig Ram, ATI graphics, It is functioning there…

Are there any hardwarre issues that can cause this?
