3dsmax Zbrush keeping object (polygroup) names

If I have a character made up of 300 objects, I import it into zbrush in one OBJ file, do some work on it, and I reimport it to max via OBJ. All my objects have lost their names. They are now named group1 group2 etc. Is there any way to keep the original objects names from max.

Zbrush create one polygroup for each object but it seems like it just ignore the objects names.

Or maybe anyone has a trick to rename all objects with the correct name inside of max…

ZBrush does not currently support polygroup naming. I don’t know of a way to get the names back, short of editing the OBJ file itself. There might be a solution in Max or some other program, though.

Ok thanks, next time I will just do the zbrush work BEFORE naming and cleaning my objects in max…
