3Ds Max performance loss after importing Zbrush file

hi everyone,
this is my first experience importing a zbrush obj file into 3ds max, however right after i importe the obj file, 3ds max becomes laggy and i barely manage to rotate/scale the object . is there any steps i should do pre exporting from zbrush/importing into 3ds max ? would greatly appreciate any advice.

Reduce the number of faces and verts you’re trying to work with. Display as wireframe could potentially help.

how do i reduce the number of faces/verts? does that mean i export in a lower subdivision level or i something i should do in max?

Exporting lower makes sense to me

thanks, tho it’d be nice if i could export with all the fine details.

You can export at any level, is it necessary to have the actual geometry? I believe you’ll find when your lower res mesh has displacement applied in Max, it will look better than without it.

i know but the 3D software , 3ds max for instance, crashes due to huge amount of faces. but yea using bump n displacements should do the trick.

i actually found a solution to lower the poly count without losing too much details. it’s the Decimation plugin. u might wanna give it a try if you havent used it yet.
