3D newbie who wants to make THIS...

Hi guys! :>

I’ve been doing 2D graphics and concept art my whole life, but recently I decided to move forward and learn 3D. Years ago I was dabbling with Maya, but I don’t remember a thing, so I can be considered a total beginner.

Without further explanation, I would like to do THIS kind of things:

As you see they differ in styles completely, but I’ll ask anyway: which software(s)/tools do I need to create this kind of stuff? :stuck_out_tongue: I would love to do both high poly (pixar style) and low poly (for games). I’d like to achieve those effects using as few tools as possible. What I do know is that I’ll probably use Quixel suite for texturing, but that’s all.

Will ZBrush do the job? Or not exactly?

I have no clue. Are there any tutorials for noobs about mere 3D theory? ;p

Thanks in advance for your help! :>

You probably would need 3 programs: Zbrush, Max or Maya and substance painter. You only would need a very partial knowledge of Max or Maya but if you want to be in a game production pipeline it is very much unavoidable. If you want to do it only for generating images or personal stuff then you can skip Max or Maya. For films Mari would be more convenient than substance painter.
