3D Layers and Color Surface Noise

Hello, first post here. Is anyone else having problems while using the surface noise to apply noise color to a mesh layer??

The procedure works fine if theres no layers present, but if theres a recording layer only the deformation from the noise is transfered to the mesh but not the color.

Same thing seems to happen with the projection master, the deformation applies but not the color.

I really tried to search for this issue but no luck, am very sorry if this was answered before.

I love working with layers, to me there´s no other way to work and i hate to commit to any change on my meshes.

sorry to double post but i want to give this issue one more chance b4 i call it a fact.

Again, layers dont store color info from surface noise nor from Projection Master??

I believe 3d layers can only store sculpting information. If you wish to use layers for color then you should look into the new zbrush timeline. I personally have not used it so I can’t really help with the specifics, but it should be able to accomplish what you are trying to do.

Well, they do store polipaint information as long as they are made by a stroke. You can turn on polypaint and record strokes, drag direct of textures, color and alphas, heh! they even store your masking information but the mask will only work inside that particular layer, although you can overcome that particular issue by keeping a layer with just the mask info and duplicate that layer as many times as you need to reuse that mask.

Sadly any form of color information that comes from procedures as Surface Noise or Projection Master wont be recorded by layers.

Hope this gets fixed in the future as seeing that mesh deformations can be stored from the Projection Master and Surface Noise, the fact that color info can´t smells more like a bug to me.
