32Bit Displacement Map from ZBrush

Hi there,

     I am learning how to extract 32Bit displacement maps from ZBRUSH.

And I went through a lot of tutorials and training sources, however when I extract my displacement map, looks like this:-

Here is my ZBRUSH MULTI-MAP settings

I have seen few people extracting their displacement maps and their’s looks almost like this (edited on Nuke)

I’m testing this on the Nautiloid model provided by The Idaho Virtualization Lab here on CG SOCIETY .

In Zbrush, the Model looks like this

I am sorry about that. I couldn’t preview my post properly for some reason. And after I pasted these URL’s again, it still didn’t show through.
So read a little about how zBrush forum works and there they are now.

Anyway, I am re-posting the images in the following order

  • 32 Bit disp map from Zbrush (no edits):-


  • Multi Map settings in ZBrush:-

  • Am I right in saying a displacement map should look somewhat like this? (Nuke Edited)
  • ZBrush Screenshot of the model:
  • Low Res model exported to Maya from ZBRUSH (though multimap):- I checked the UV’s and for any normal issues, none were found
  • And finally a wip render, which isn’t showing my displacement output on the lowPoly model

  • I am working on Maya 2015, which has the UDIM tile option for fileNodes, posting it because I am not sure where I am going wrong.
  • Arnold sub-division settings. The displacement isn’t rendering on VRAY either, not tried in Mental Ray
