[3.5] Rigging Issue

I have a mesh with 4 levels of detail. I also have a zsphere rig for it. I attach the model at the lowest level of detail to the rig. Posing works at the lowest level. However when I set the Adaptive skin detail level to 4, and shift-click preview, it will not pose the high res version. It does switch and show the 4th level model, but it’s not posed.

What am I doing wrong?

Doesn’t work for me either.
Makes rigging pretty much unusable

I can duplicate this issue - I will notify the development team. I suggest you do this:

  1. Set the Tool>Adaptive Skin>Density slider to 1. This will make sure that the mesh generated is the same as the lowest level of the original.
  2. Press ‘A’ or Tool>Adaptive Skin>Preview.
  3. Export the preview mesh as an OBJ.
  4. Switch to the original mesh and go to the lowest subdivision level.
  5. Import the OBJ exported at (3), then go to the highest subdivision level.

An advantage of using this method is that you can store the pose in a 3D Layer - simply create a new layer before importing the OBJ. You can then create a selection of poses on different layers that you can switch between with ease.

HTH,

Hi Marcus,

Thanks for your help. That works a treat.
It would be nice not to have to go the obj way, but your solution is a
good work-around
