3.5 Brush cursor following geometry, Disable?

What I would like to know is if I can turn off the cursor following along geometry? Its a cool feature but sometimes it drives my eyes crazy to see my cursor dancing all around on my object.

Turn off “Preferences/Edit/Align Cursor To Surface”

Hi i also have a question about this,
I would like to disable the “effect” of the brush following the surface and not only the display.
I think it might be possible because the slash 3 brush dosen’t have this feature.

Thx for your replies.

I’d like to know this too, actually. I’ve looked all around and can’t figure out where this functionality might be exposed in the brush or stroke menus. Im sure someone else will chime in here and make me look silly.

In the meantime though, you can always simply clone that slash brush, and add whatever settings you like to it for different strokes with that same basic effect.

The Picker palette contains settings that determine how data is passed to the 2.5D and 3D brushes. The orientation settings are what you are looking for.

For 3D brushes the Dynamic switch, Orientation and Z settings are set on a brush by brush basis while the Color, Material and Layer settings (Active, All, Other) are global settings.

For 2.5D and 3D Tools only the Dynamic switch is set for each each brush, the rest of the settings are global. The only exception is the ZSphere tool which also remembers the Orientation and Z settings.

And there it is, thanks! I don’t think Ive opened that palette in years. Forgot it even existed.

Tanks a lot it realy helps!!
