3.5 Activations. How many?

What is the policy on activating 3.5? I have already installed it on my office workstation here but I was wondering is it like the Adobe products where more than one activation is allowed for like home and office use? I was hoping to be able to install it on my laptop so that I could work on the go as well.

Hi , better ask this in questions subforum but from the Zbrush Wiki page :

Individual License

An individual license is issued to a single user. This license allows one user to install and activate ZBrush as needed provided they are the one using ZBrush. To take full advantage of the individual license make sure to activate online. Using the Check-in facilities explained below you will be able to take ZBrush with you where ever you go. Learn more about the check-in process here

That’s for Zbrush 3 , not 3.5 , however I doubt their licensing terms have changed because of an update. What I understand from this, is that it is ok to activate zbrush on several pcs as long as you are the only one using it and only have 1 zbrush open at a time. From what I remember Zbrush 3.1 used to work on my desktop and my laptop.

If they stay with history, there are three activations available to each license, but bear in mind they are, per EULA, only for one user and never to be used simultaneously, such as home computer and and a laptop for the same user.

If you “loose” licenses as a result of check-in failing, contact support.

As long as you activate online you will have no issues. I keep a copy active on my PC and Laptop. You can also easily move by deactivating one copy and then reactivate on whatever computer you wish. I think though you can only run on two computers and have them both activated at once as long as only one copy is in use at a time. That deactivation makes it easy to use an alternate computer if you wish. Just make sure you always activate and deactivate online only.

I wish they would all go to a Dongle anyway. I noticed another vendor the other day who had gone to using any flash drive as a dongle and your license was locked to a flash drive you could carry on a keyring. I know I like it with Lightwave as I can use Lightwave on any computer I’m at. Imagine having all of your licenses to all software on one keyring flash drive :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1: The headaches it would save. Too easy though, they will never do it.

thanks Guys I will give it a shot
