Bahhhahahah!!z3.1 Rules!!!
Can you copy the message? I’m not familiar with that one.
For information on ZMapper see here:
http://www.zbrush.info/docs/index.php/ZMapper
Turn on Posable Symmetry at the highest level. If you need to divide again you’ll have to press the button again.
Cool
though still not available on OS X
Have to admit… love the new look to the UI
There is a bug in Zmapper. Let’s say you have a human body model with 4 polygroups. Head, upper body, legs, arms…
You hide everything except the head, then launch Zmapper and when you try to calculate normal maps it will be a complete mess.
It works fine on objects that do not have polygroups…so I think this might be a bug.
Marcus, thanks.
Ok, I have to say I`m a bit embarrassed
It was about UV groups, not Polygroups. The part about polys was just to help me to select them.
Anyways…
Now I get to launch ZMapper, but all I get is a mesh turning around and a wierd circle on the upper left corner. No context menu, and if I click anything it just disappears. Doesn`t look like an old ZMapper UI to me
Please excuse me if I ask stupid questions, I usually read help files, but there`s none for this release to rely on
Okay could you please explain the hotkey thing, i hold ctrl and click over someting but i dont see a window, if i press a key that i would assign it to nothing happens.
Also what are the new topology controls? i dont see any difference.
How looks the “new interface”?
On smaller displays the ZMapper UI will not appear if you have the tray visible. Click on the divider to close the tray before launching ZMapper. The UI, which is the same as ZB2, should then appear.
I’ll need to get back to you on the UV groups issue.
Spaceboy:
Theres no window. You ctrl+click the button and on the status bar (or whatever it is called) is a short info what you should do now. So just press your hotkey or press ESC to cancel. Nothing more:) It
s little rough, but easy to use.
Oh, and Ive noticed that I can now assign other brushes to Shift key. Shame it won
t change Strokes, which makes it a little bit useless.
i dont mean to ask a dumb question but where do i go to get 3.1?
On hotkeys: hold down Ctrl and click on the button or interface item you want to assign a hotkey to. A message should appear in the Notebar saying you can assign a hotkey. Press the key of your choice. To make sure that the hotkey remains available you must Store it in Preferences:Hotkeys.
On topology: what new controls are you looking for?
so glad to see posable symmetry… so glad!
Awesome news. Well done pixologic.
One question, is HD geometry available in Displacement maps?
Marcus, thanks for the hotkey explanation, i get it now.
Secondly on the 3.1 page http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/
it says new topology controls, thats what i was asking about.
Also i was playing with the standard brush holding shift for smooth, if you smooth a lot over the same area the edges get kinda crisp, it is the same if you use the smooth brush itself, how do i get it back to the old smooth brush? i mean its not really smoothing if its leaving a sharp edge somewhere else right?
EDIT it looks like changing the smoothing curve can fix that, i believe
also is there a way to have the brush buttons in my shelf without the icons? like in z3?
Yeah, it works! Marry me!
Thanks.
The Get1mesh Zscript looks cool but it always says there are no sub tools when there is?
Im wondering is this script works the same as the project all button literaly merging the mesh down, or actualy makes polygroups?
Oh and before I forget, pixologic this UI looks modern and very well laid out. I realy like to visual zoom on the tools, alphas e.c.t, I think your hard work will pay off, evern more than it has done so far. Thankyou.
Topology: Yes, I saw that after my post and realized what you were referring to. The topology tools have been simplified but there may be more than that, I don’t know yet and have not had the chance to experiment enough. I think that there will be more information just as soon as is possible after Siggraph. The team worked all hours to get this done!
On Smooth: yes, adjusting the smoothing curve should do it.
