2D model in the way of the 3D model -- Why?

I am new to Zbrush. I was sculpting my character and then saved it. I then resumed sculpting character and noticed a second clone of the character was placed in my 3D space, but instead of being able to rotate around it, it sat their like a 2D image.

here is a link to a video, it should show you clearly what I am experiencing…

Is it a graphics card problem, or have I accidentally pressed the wrong button ?

Thanks in advance…

Nothing wrong there. What you’ve done is at some point hit shift-s. this ‘drops’ your 3d model onto the canvas at the current position and orientation but makes it static and uneditable. Im sure there is a use for it, but I only ever use it for doing a render with various different views of my mesh.

Just do CRT-n and it should clear the copy.

Thanks for responding. So ctl+n is the way to get out of it, good to know thank you.

I can’t think of a good use for it yet either. Can anyone else explain why one would want to drop 3D to 2D
and continue working in 3D?

It’s useful for creating references. Like a document stamp in Photoshop. You can also create some interesting alphas/textures with it.

2.5D is also used a lot in illustration. Check out Meats Meiers website and his Zbrush for Illustration - Part One for starters.
