2.5D rendering in R2

Rendering 2.5D stuff in R2 seems degraded rather then improved, have some basic setting for 2.5D changed or is there anything I can do to improve this?

Cheers, and Thanks!

Can you be more specific?

well…
I guess so, but only sort of…
Things look washed out, depth is not as deep, shadows are mostly gone and 2.5D just looks better un-rendered. Since I posted the original question I have found some weird things with 3D rendering as well, for example hitting the BPR button with “Best” activated in the render pallet results in a black render with a few colored dots, usually on the outside edge of objects.

In 4.0 not knowing much about rendering I just turned on everything except fog and depth cue, and hit the best button resulting in some very nice renders, in R2 I am better off not rendering at all.
A very good example is the standard red wax, try rendering that as 2.5D, its llike almost nothing happens.

Its hard to explain honestly, but picture looking at a forest on an overcast day through a dirty window vs. being outside in it just after its rained and the suns come back out…
Does that help?

Another question is I suppose is: is ok to run 4.0 while R2 is installed? that way I could do comparison renders.

Cheers, and thanks!

This is odd…
I may have fixed it but I dont know how…
Im going to try to figure out what I did…

ok…
I THINK it is shadows that changed but I’m not totally sure, increasing their intensity seems to have fixed the standard red wax.
I have found that the new rendering stuff does not do anything to 2.5D stuff so it wasn’t that (which is a drag actually).

It’s perfectly fine, you just cant run them at the same time.

Splendid, that will allow me to compare things more directly.

Thanks!
