I use Zbrush 3.1 to draw and paint in pure 2D and to make 2.5D images. But it seems on version 3.5 these aspects of the software were altered or forgoten. Some things that worked well don’t do anymore. For example:

The pressure sensibility that Singlelayerbrush and Paintbrush had before are gone. I can’t blend my strokes as naturaly as before. The Colorize brush doesn’t work too, it just produces black lines. The intensity brush too, just paint things of black. Zapplink doesn’t work with custom documents, so I can’t work in conjunction with PS when creating 2D or 2.5D illustrations.
So, I ask what’s the point in these changes. Zbrush was always anounced as a software made to create illustrations… and now it’s becoming difficult to make them using the app. The plans for the software changed, it’s just sculpture oriented now? Are there any chances to see these 2.5D tools working properly again on future versions of zbrush?
And what about the renderer? It couldn’t be improved, to make more impressive presentations of our models and illustrations? And to avoid the waste of time to have to UV map, generate maps, decimate, composite in PS, etc to carry the models to another 3d package?
I know most people here are not interested in 2.5d tools, but I like to use Zbrush to make illustrations, and I’ll feel disapointed if I lose this tool. There are other sculpting tools around, but tools that manipulates pixols like Zbrush no… So it will be sad to lose these unique features Zbrush has to offer.
