ZTool Instancing ALA 3D Max

Does Zbrush support Ztool instancing? Not like Nanomesh, or Mesh Array… But actual clones of a ztool that you can duplicate and move around wherever you want (unlike Nanomesh that has to be distributed along the model’s surface)
All this while keeping local symmetry even if you rotate them, of course… For example, symmetrical details that go on top of a non-symmetrical model (skull ornaments on an armor for example).
I feel that with all the hard-surface modeling innovations, this feature should a be must (since a lot of hard-surface stuff uses symmetrical pieces along non-symmetrical objects). Am I missing something? It seems all the instance mesh functionality requires these meshes to be ‘painted’ on, ‘placed procedurally’ or along arrays - none of which offer precision.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Something like this would be awesome!

Straight up instancing would be cool, but it’s not in there so far as I know.

IIRC last time this came up someone suggested creating a single quad, nanomeshing your geometry onto that, and then moving and placing the quad as your instance. That way you could treat multiple planes as instances. I haven’t tried it but it might spark an idea you can use in the meantime
