ZSpheres to Figure: Need some help.

Hey all!

Okay so I’m really new to Zbrush. I’ve done some heads and simply models that came out pretty good but never more than that. Now I have a scene (in Max) that is crying out for a seated figure. Yikes, okay time to get my butt in gear on it. I’ve been reading and doing some tutorials and got a (IMO) good ZSphere figure going. See pics below. I also put in the stool and floor from the scene so I would have some props for size, etc…

Now I’m at the point to using the adaptive skin and not too stoked on what I’m seeing with it (pics below). I was sure hoping that it would be closer to the ZSphere version. With either of those adaptive skin models I’ve really got my work cut out sculpting what I need. So question is - is that as good as the adaptive skin gets? I messed with the settings a bit but it’s still pretty blocky and/or disproportionate . Any suggestions as to how to get it closer to the ZSphere version? Or maybe there is another way to create a seated figure?

Also - when I apply the adaptive skin my props disappear - any way to keep them in the scene or do I have to add them back in?

Thank you very much for any help or advice!

Have you tried upping the resolution of the Adaptive Skin first?

If that is what the “density” slider does then yes. I’ve tried changing all the setting around within the AS pallette. Or do you mean something else? Please explain.

Yes density is what I meant Daf. Maybe inserting extra spheres in the waist and upper thighs will tighten things up a bit.

That’s an idea! I’ll give that a try tonight. Thanks! :+1:

You can start with one of the included zsphere mannequins from lightbox, and pose it however you want.

By default, these use “Classic skinning” option for adaptive skin… this keeps it closer to the shape of the rig.

Then you can sculpt it or dynamesh then sculpt then zremesh, etc.

Thor - that is good info! I’ve been struggling with this project and I think that is going to really help! Thank you!
