Zspheres mystery [Answered]

I can’t seem to get ZSpheres to work like I see in the tutorials, if I try to move a zsphere to adjust an elbow or knee or whatever, the move is strangely translated up the chain to all the other sphere objects. In the tutorials someone will just move a sphere joint and it moves and everything else stays where it is. These are the tools I’m using, Draw, Move, Scale.

And what do all the tool handles, rings, yellow lines mean when hovering over and selecting the sphere, is there any place where this is fully described?

Also, I’m new here and still trialing ZBrush, but I posted here because I can’t find the appropriate forum section in which to post questions about how to use Zbrush. Does anyone know if that exists and where to find it?

Save yourself some pain and find a good tutorial that explains the basics. This one is quite good http://www.thethirdguild.com/products/characters-made-easy-parts-1-and-2/

When moving the link spheres between ZSpheres you need to hold Alt if you don’t want ‘natural linked’ movement (i.e. if you are not posing the model). If you are watching tutorials for older versions of ZBrush then this wasn’t the case: simply being in Move mode was enough and holding Alt gave natural linked movement. The option was swapped for version 4 with the introduction of mannequins.

Hey I am new too. I have found that it depends on which area (defined by the lines white yellow and green i think) your cursor is and also your brush size will have an effect. Small brush size = more local movements. Seems the brush will move all points with in the volume of the brush with slightly less movement for the outer radius of your brush cursor.

Thanks for answering, that helped a lot. So I assume this is the correct place to post questions from now on.
