ZSphere Moroh target Question?

Recently i’ve been experimenting with Zspheres & Morph targets.

:b4: I have tried importing a OBJ file as a morph target into the zif object but it simply replaces it. Is there any way around this? perhaps a ZScript

:b4: Also while using a Obj base mesh(UV mapped & imported) I divided it & loaded a morph target but the original mesh turned into a mess. I dunno how relevent the UV could be.

Any help appreciated.

You cannot import into a ZSphere tool as that is an object generator. If you create a PolyMesh3D tool from your ZSphere tool you can of course import into that.

In order to keep the mesh from “blowing” up when importing into an existing subdivided PolyMesh3D tool, you must ensure the point order is the same for the tool and the imported object. All depending on which other program you are using, point reordering may occur when importing or exporting from that program. Check the FAQ for info on import/export settings for various 3D programs. The UVs you have assigned are not the cause of your second problem.

Thanks for the help TVeyes,

I understand about it being a mesh generator but when a morph target is created in Zif mode the mesh remains constant & deformable. So i thought it would work fine.

Oh well perhaps its in the new version

Storing a morph target with the ZSpheres active simply calculates a mesh for the current pose. That mesh is then deformed by reposing the ZSpheres.

The key here is that the mesh is still linked to the ZSpheres. It’s generated by them.

An imported mesh would not be generated by the ZSpheres. This is why it cannot be used as a morph target for a ZSphere model.
