zsphere mesh broken up after export

I mad simple z sphere trees with branches and what not, and when exported to Maya the mesh is broken apart, into individual pieces.

And then I combined all the parts so they are whole, then re imported back into z brush and I subdivide, and it breaks them part again.

So how do i fix this

It has to do with the polygroups.

When exporting from ZBrush, turn on Tool>Export>Mrg if you want the groups to be welded. Or turn off Tool>Export>Grp if you don’t want any polygroups at all.

When exporting from your other app, make sure that the points are welded.
