Zsphere magnets

My question is (hopefully simple and) about the usage of the magnet zspheres.

What can I do with it and how do I get one? because alt-clicking on a zsphere removes one and alt clicking on the grey part between 2 zspheres sort of removes the grey part and the zsphere becomes darkred… but moving it has no effect on the other normal zspheres.

You Alt+click on the link spheres, which makes them disappear. But you also need to switch on Use Classic Skinning in the Adaptive Skin menu. Press ‘A’ for preview mode and you will then see the effect. For best results, you may need to DynaMesh Resolution to 0 (to switch it off) and lower the Density slider too.

A link sphere is a sphere between 2 others?

Whatever I do with alt+click… it just removes the sphere and that’s it. so I do not get a magnet, just a removed sphere (thus connecting the 2 spheres that were in front and after the deleted sphere) If I alt click on the grey bridge between 2 spheres it separates the geometry.

Yes, it’s the grey bridging spheres you click on. It does separate the geometry, so you need to put in extra zspheres where you want the magnet to be. You position them in such a way that they “pull” the geometry. If you look at the picture you’ll see there’s a darkened zsphere at the top. That has had its linking spheres removed by Alt+clicking. Without the Alt+clicking it would look like the preview below - that’s the preview anyway when “Use Classic Skinning” is off.

Ah, now it’s clear to me! Thank you!!!

Maybe this will add to the clarification.

That was also very helpful, thanks!
