Zsphere issue adaptive mesh - bloomin' tentacles!

tentacles_01

Hi all, having a few issue with zspheres… apologies I am a bit of a ‘lite’ zbrush user, I only use it for very select things… so as soon as I venture out of my comfort zone I hit issues!

I am trying to work out the best way to sculpt tentacles, I settled on zspheres, which seem to be working well so far as I seem to have far more control of how they are placed.

This shows I have made two set of branching tentacles… so my main problem is that when I turn on adaptive skin… it merges the two that are close to each other which isn’t ideal as I want control to keep them separate…

So my question is, firstly when they are branching from one source zsphere can I stop them merging if they are close?

Or does that mean I need to make each tentacles it’s own set of zspheres to avoid merging?

Or… is there a completely different way I should be doing this…

Thanks to anyone that can help me out in advance!

Hi @Jolyonmeldrum,

While working with your live ZSphere tool, turn the Dynamesh resolution slider in the Tool> Adaptive Skin menu down to zero. This will disable the fusing behavior that Dynamesh contributes to the adaptive skin.

Thanks very much for the speedy response, you have no idea how much i’ve needed some help!

That worked really nicely, I am getting a very weird junction between the root and the connected zspheres.

Here’s one setting and here’s another:

Any way to make that smoother?

Thanks for all the help again!
