ZScript: Rope Maker

An easier way to make rope…

Rope Maker

Rope Maker allows you to make rope in a new way. It is 3D, but instead of being made from a single primitive, and hence being very hard to shape, it is made of many small segments which follow you mouse.

Rope Maker options include:

:b2: Rope Color
:b2: Rope Texture
:b2: Rope Radius
:b2: And a convience button to make a new layer for the rope.

Unzip the two files anywhere, but keep them in the same folder.

I hope this is a useful script. I would appreciate some advice on how this could be made to work with a recorded stroke.

Thanks Muvlo - neat idea. Had the need arisen, I’d planned on using PSP and one of the rope tubes there to create this effect in a very similar manner, but so much more convenient to have it available in ZB. :+1: :+1: :+1:

great idea muvlo.thanks for the endless supply of ropes…

COOL! Thanks for your hard work!!

VERY generous!!! :sunglasses: :+1:

Very cool!

Thanks Muvlo!

Thanks for the encouragment guys!

Muvlo this is the most seriously weird and brilliant script ever.

Thanks M this will come in very handuy on the piece that I am working on now, needed some rope, and herer you are giving it way, U R A STAR,

arran

Wow, Thelonius, that looks really real… I hope it is not for me!

Hi Picsas, thanks! I hope to see this piece soon.

Thanks Muvlo! I can think of so many uses for this.
I always have a hard time shaping thin objects, it looks like you took part of the work out of it.

Dang, Muvlo, this is very cool. I could have used this when I was making the Scarecrow in my Oz picture. Unfortunately, it is too late to go back, since I have snapshot most of that pic and don’t want to start over.

Story of my life…a day late and a dollar short (or in this case a day early  ) :ex:

Thanks Muvlo!
It is very cool script !
:+1:

That’s a good idea Kruzr. I’m finishing up another script now, but after that I’ll see if I can figure out something to do that.

absolutely brilliant, codemaster Muvlo! looks like you started a new era of z-utility-scripting - thank you so much! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

thelonious: gorgeous result!

Muvlo, this is a great idea … very cool!

Do you think this concept could be modified to generate chains with various link types, or more organic stuff like vines, tree trunks and tree limbs?

Thanks Chris. It is possible that the things you mention could be done. The script, at its most basic level, is just checking to see where to mouse is. Then it draws stuff there. So itcould draw any number of things, from rope to beads to chains, or even vines, though organic-looking things present more difficulty.

BTW, I’ve been looking at how ZScripts work with strokes, and I may have found some ways to make the script work better, and perhaps solve the Kruzr challenge.

the Atreides blood runs strong in you I can tell.
I am awed by how effective this zscript is

could you implement this? I’m no good with technical zscripts:

to tie a “knot”, the 3-sphere object must have a Z value behind the rope created so far. this could be solved if you added a keyboard shortcut that takes the 3-sphere object back in Z at a value of, perhaps -200?

this will create a small area of discontinuity on the rope (the rope generator will suddenly appear behind the rope) but this can be retouched later.

in any case, it’s a clever Zscript. thank you Muvlo
