ZScript recording will not work for me

Hi all,

If I use Zscript record (following all directions, and initialise) ZScript does not work. If I use a sphere then polymesh it for sculpting, the script when replayed just presents a a deforming mess instead of the head or whatever it is I am sculpting. If I use a dynamesh sphere picked up from Lightbox the resulting script is composed of lines from the default startup brush with the lightbox window sitting on top of the mess the script has recorded, and when I hit escape ZBrush crashes.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you.

Welcome to ZBrush. Maybe you’d have better luck recording a Macro of what you wish to repeat, than by trying to record a script. Links below my post to docs and some files.

Thanks for your interest Doug… I shall try your suggestions.

On further examination of this problem… It only begins to happen in a recording when the Move tool is used (note… not the transpose Move). Everything goes awry then. Also I am using a Wacom Tablet.

I also use a Wacom  Some things you just have to use the mouse for though.

I’m afraid zscript recording is something of a legacy feature that often produces undesirable results. As Doug says, for operations you want to repeat, recording a macro is useful. If you want to produce a movie of your sculpting then consider using theUndo History.

HTH,

Hi Marcus,

Thank you for your reply.
As to Macros I am also finding that the set of Move brushes manage to destroy whatever I model in the recording. Other brushes seem fine.

It is a shame the recording of modelling a tool with Zscript hasn’t been updated…to my mind anyway. It was a way to share technique and models within a small file size.

Thanks again for your time and prompt answer. All the best.

I agree with that 100%
