ZScript error dialog at startup (4R3)

Dear support,

When I start ZBrush 4R3 on my iMac I get the following dialog message:

ZScript Note:
Script : DefaultZScript.txt
Unrecognized command.

And I can only press the OK button and then ZBrush crashes.

Sometimes it starts correctly with no problems…

I noticed that after updating from 4R2 I don’t have a 4R3 folder in the application folder but only a 4R2 folder. Could this be a problem? I start ZBrush from the 4R2 folder and 4R3 is started with the dialog box described above.

Any help is really appreciated!

Kind regards,
Pat

I’ve run into this, too, on my macbook pro. I reinstalled the Z4R3 updater, and now I can’t activate ZBrush at all

Thank you for your reply! I’m sorry to hear that you are having this problem too.

I’m still having this issue. Although I today temporary removed the DefaultZScript file to see what would happen and I have started ZBrush a couple of times after that with success. I don’t know if this solution is temporary because it doesn’t feel right to remove a file that is suppose to be there.

I was also going to try to re-install and re-register to see…

Any one else have this problem? and a solution for it?

Kind regards,
Patrik

Unzip the attached file and put the DefaultZScript.zsc in your ZScripts folder. That should do the trick.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your reply and help Aurick. Unfortunately, I’m still having this problem even with the new DefaultZScript.zsc file. However, I seems to work if I remove the DefaultZScript.txt file. Do I need that file? It looks like this:

//startup

[pd]

Thank you very much for the help!

Kind regards,
Patrik

No, you’re fine without that file. Keep it handy someplace, though, in case you’d like to edit your default ZScript. What you would do in that situation is edit the text file, launch ZBrush, use the ZScript palette to browse to and load the text file version. ZBrush will instantly create a .zsc version at the same location. Exit ZBrush and copy the new .zsc in to replace the old.

I’m told that the next update will fix this issue as well. Everything in this thread is just a workaround for those users affected by the issue until the update can be released.
