Zproject Detail Skewing When model rotated

Good evening,

I have come across an issue when I am working on a model in Zbrush which involves using the zproject brush. When i am just painting on a texture that will be used as a mask…it looks perfect, just the way I like it. (First image)

Now, when I go to rotate the model to work some more, all of the detail that I projected onto the mesh, get skewed and twisted up and stuff…and it is starting to piss me off because I have been on this same spot for the last two hours…

Now is there a way to fix this issue…and i don’t want to use PM for this because I want to be able to rotate the model when I do this…and it is getting to be a frustrating issue… thanks

Well, this is day 2 of this horrible issue…I am still trying to get the detail where i want it, and no matter what, the detail is still getting skewed… I even turned off the UVs and tried that…no go…

I will now attempting to reimport the obj and just do a quick paintover…

This is the nature of projecting from 2D to 3D. The more the surface angles away from the camera, the more the projection will distort.

The exact same thing happens in the real world. Imagine a square of rubber with print on it. You hold it over a ball and then move it down onto the ball. The print will start to stretch the farther down you push/project.

Now ZBrush does have a feature to help with this. If you’re working with a stencil you can turn on the Wrap Mode feature (found in the Stencil palette). This will go far to help with your issue.

Hey, aurick, thanks for dropping in…I think i will try out the stencil mode…(forgot about that) and i will see if this will help my issue…I’ll post my findings.
