Zpheres snapping to mesh surface

Hi All,

Is it possible to draw zpheres directly onto the surface of a mesh like you can with some of the curve brushes? Basically, I want to model a brain. I’ve tried creating the cords by using the curve brushes on a reference mesh but I much prefer the control you get with zpheres and I find that the curve brushes can be a bit unintuitive by comparison.

Thanks & Regards

Hi @georgepickles

Yes, it is!

Press the Subtool > Append button for the model you are working with and select the zsphere tool from the Tool palette.

Using Scale and Move modes, resize and reposition the zsphere the way you want.

  • With subtool Transparency ON, model with zspheres as normal.

  • With subtool Transparency OFF, click and drag to add zspheres that conform to the surface of the other subtools.

  • Select a different starting zsphere by clicking it while in Move mode or Ctrl+clicking on it while in Draw mode.

Pressing Shift key as you start to draw the ZSphere will snap it to the same size as the previous one.

Thanks ZBER2, I never realised you could do that! Hopefully, I can finish my brain now(:
