ZOoomming! in and out!

Just a simple question but is there a way to configure a zoom in and out to while editing you model w/ zspheres using your mouse wheel. I’m new to ZBrush. I am just confused w/ the interfaces. Not so intuitive more me…I am a 3dMax user by heart. Any help on this topic would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

As far I know, ZBrush (2) is built primarily with the graphic tablet in mind. This means it works very well with pressure sensitivity and has fast response, but it also means that not much attention has been paid to mouse buttons and wheels.

Fortunately the Zoom button is always easily accessible, and you can scroll the document by pressing Space.

Actually, the reason is that ZBrush is meant to be as close to identical for PC and Mac users as possible. The Mac has only one mouse button. As a result, almost all of ZBrush’s PC functionality is based on a left-click. In recent versions, the right-click has also been introduced to bring up the QuickMenu, but going beyond that to include support for a third button would be a drastic change from the Mac.

Nimrod,

If you have an intellipoint mouse, you can program each mouse button with any key command you want.

/me tries the IntelliPoint driver software

Curses!

My intention was to assign the mouse wheel scroll up to ‘+’ and scroll down to ‘-’, and mouse wheel press to Spacebar so you could scroll and zoom around the canvas using the wheel. However…

IntelliPoint driver 4.1 allows application specific button configuration, but this does not include scrolling the mouse wheel (only pressing).

IntelliPoint 5.0 does not allow any application specific button configurations, and you still cannot assign the mouse wheel scroll to a keystroke.

Oh well.

Speaking as a Mac user myself, I see no reason to avoid middle/right mouse button commands. With OSX there’s nothing stopping a Mac user from using multi button mice(I use an MS optical mouse), in fact I can’t believe Apple aren’t producing one themselves.

I never tried it myself but I believe you could use a programmable mouse to mimic a windows mouse in OS9 by making right click equivalent to command click? - Baz
