Zombo and Friends

Hey guys!

So for the past while I have been working on these little toy sculpts for a friend. They were done in Zbrush with the exception of the renders which were done in mental ray. The design and concepts of these guys were done by my friend and artist John Dunivant…a crazy talented and insane individual. If you want to see more of his work check out “Theater Bizarre Detroit”. Eventually molds will be made and they will be painted, but i thought i would share the Zbrush portion of it with everyone.
Hope you like them!

:small_orange_diamond: Fantastic job!.. looks really good;)

the renders are awesome !!
the sculpt are very good too but I’m not very fond of the design ( which is a personal thought ) …

Cool, really unusual designs and the render is excellent!

All the best

great style!

Hey askutt,

Kev C here. John had me build out the bases for you models in C4D, so he could try and get them 3D printed. Not sure if he succeeded, as he wanted them huge and oversized. But here’s a few renders with a little SSS.

Awesome work as always, I’m sure you’re killing it in the big leagues.

Amazing renders!

Woooouuuuuu Veryyyy goood

By the way, I used Cinema 4D r13’s new Physical render engine. I can’t remember the settings, but it’s lit with just an HDRI map, and Indirect Illumination. True physical SSS, DoF, fresnel/blurry reflections and a hint of AO for some pop. It’s still no Vray, which I love to use, but I like their new render engine a lot as its completely native and very intuitive, and you can still do stylistic cheats/tricks if that’s your thing. A good mix.

I think it took about 15 mins to render on my 12core Mac.

I was thinking about texturing these, to mock the old-school plastic toys these are inspired from, with thin black paint, some airbrushing overspray like it came off a crappy assembly like, and a touch of wear. I wanna really show off John and askutts amazing work. I love these designs and sculpts, I do.

ascutt, if you’re still out there, can you generate basic unwrapped UV maps from these?
