Zombie WIP thread.

Hello all,

I made the base mesh for this lovely looking chap in Maya. I painted the textures in ZBrush and also rendered out a number of different passes in ZBrush which were then composited together in Photoshop. The eyes are photographic elements which I have comped in as place holders for the moment until I get to texturing them properly (I think they look too ‘alive’ like this).

The brow has too much of that ‘botox’ look at the moment which will be rectified soon. I am hoping to add hair and animate him in Maya soon.

Cheers for taking a look. All the best.

Minty.

This is a clay render of my model so far in Maya. Cheers.

I should mention the teeth and eyes are just place holder pieces I made quickly. The ‘Colgate Smile’ look won’t be in the final piece lol. Cheers.

A few more hours spent on this chap tonight.

I have started to now work on the SSS Skin textures. This shader has only the diffuse and subdermal maps I have painted at 4K each in photoshop applied to their respective slots. Still lots more to do. Hoping the subdermal and back scatter maps will really make the blood pop properly. Cheers.

love how the work is coming along! The lighting really brings out the skin. Just curious, are you editing any of the values in the SSS Skin shader?

Cheers mate, appreciate it. Yep, I’ve been constantly tweaking the scatter depth and radius the whole way through the process. Lots and LOTS of test rendering and adjustments. Cheers again.

Nice! Maybe lose a tooth or two.

Cheers. I should start adjusting the scatter depths and radii values of all three maps (backscattering, subdermal, and epidermal) to get better results. ZBrush combined with mental ray can produce powerful results with this shader.

A few more maps added and adjusted to give him more of a ‘dead’ look so to speak. I think the last upload was a bit too alive in the colour range.

I still want to work on the spec and reflection a little more before moving on to the teeth and eyes.

Cheers.
