ZModeller not working as intended?

Hey all, I just wanted to start by saying how grateful I am for this forum. So helpful during my time learning Zbrush. I really appreciate all the support. Thanks to you guys, I’m on my way to completing a project that has proven to be my most challenging yet.

That said, I’m having some trouble with ZModeller’s Extrude and QMesh Features. They seem to be functioning identically to one another, and now I can’t seem to extrude polys/faces as I have been in the past. Can’t seem to keep the inset edges around the area I’d like to extrude inwards there, whether or not I use Extrude or QMesh.

Below is a video that showcases the issue.

You appear to need an update.

Hi @DaytonTN

You’ll want to update your software. There was a lot of development in this area over the course of zb2021, and the Extrude function in particular received some attention. You are missing fixes and program features.

In the current version of the program, most inadvertent point welding is caused by one or both of the following:

  1. The “ZModeler Welding Tolerance” is set too high in Preferences> Geometry

  2. The mesh itself is too small in the ZBrush worldpsace. Meshes that are abnormally small may experience inadvertent point welding no matter how low the above slider is set.

Good luck!
