Zipper!

I’m having a problem that I just can’t figure out!

At the moment I’m making a leather sofa and in the pillows I wish to make a zipper, so for that reason I made one in 3d max and exported it into zbrush in an obj format. The problem lies in that I want it to work together with stroke and in that the selected blue in the middle would repeat itself. I have tried it with objects that you can chose in zbrushes own menu and it worked fine so I have my suspicion that it is because I import it into zbrush.

Could anyone give me an answer as to what is wrong with my zipper?:confused:small_orange_diamond:o

it needs to be one mesh, each section needs its own polygroup if I recall correctly.

Making it into one mesh would that mean merging the three pieces together!? but I have already tried that and after I do so and enter curve mode it would totally mess up. Or is it changing the objects from obj into a mesh via. “make polymesh”? I do have a hunch that you are right about it having to change though I am kinda new at zbrush and don’t know all the expressions.

(I think I forgot to mention that i want it to work with curve mode so I’m sorry for not mentioning it!)

Search the IMM thread, someone made a zipper.

The classroom has a video covering Tripart brushes. Have you watched that?

  1. I searched for what you said and found this tread having the same problem I have right now

http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?170852-IMM-Brushes-Tri-Part-Brushes-amp-existing-UV-mapping&highlight=Tripart+brushes I even found videos but all that was said is something I already knew and they don’t even tackle the issue about why imported objects from max react differently than anything else…

http://pixologic.com/zclassroom/homeroom/lesson/insert-mesh/ these are the videos I found that would have explained what to do!

oh well thanks anyway I’m happy that you wanted to answer
