I have updated my Zif Widget to incorporate a few of the new features of 1.55b and to add a few of my own.

Zif Widget Documentation

With the new Angle and Interpolation functions it makes it simple to create curves and loops. Using the Taper feature to make each successive node larger or smaller you can make tenticles, hair etc…

Version 3.1 - Interpolation Function

Create 2,3 and 4 Point Curves

Also use the new shortcuts

shift u - Move Node UP
shift d - Move Node Down
shift l - Move Node Left
shift r - Move Node Right
shift i - Move Node In
shift o - Move Node Out

Have fun!

NOTE:

In case people are having trouble, to interact with nodes using Zif-Widget you don’t select by clicking on a node with a mouse. Instead, hover the mouse over the node you wish to select and press the “s” key or the “Select” button. After selecting a node in this way you can select additional nodes by using “Shift” “s”
You can also navigate to a desired node by pressing the “Fwd” and “Back” buttons or the shortcut keys “f”/“b” to scroll thru nodes in your model.
Once you have selected a node or nodes (shift s) then you can use many of the different functions to apply the feature to all selected nodes.

Sweety your a gem!! :+1: :+1:

Cool…

I’ve got one question though. how do you tell what node/sphere is currently selected? Is there a way to have it change color or something?

Hi Monkeyfarm

Actually, selecting one or more nodes with “s” or using the Fwd and Back functions turn the nodes a different color to indicate that they are selected. If the color is not readily apparent try pressing the “Init” button to make sure all nodes are assigned a valid color

Thanks for your interest!

O.K. Digits:

So what ever happened to your wonderful animation functions? I wasn’t the only one interested in such things, was I? I sure hope someone will impliment native animation within ZBrush. It would make everyone’s life a whole lot simpler, not having to spend all of your time “making things work”, and trying to fit one application into the workflow pipeline of another, etc. Don’t you think? Imagine the simplicity and straightforwardness of using one application for all of your visualization and animation needs! ZSpheres were tailor-made for animation - I’m sure you still agree.

Now, if Mr. Alon will ever give ZSpheres the power to form and animate a detailed face, we will truly be in business, in nearly every way.

sincerely,

Greg Smith

Hi Bruce

Nice to hear from you, been awhile. My Digits Widget Zsphere is still alive and well in its original thread, thou I have yet to see anyone make an animation with it heheh

Topic: Zsphere Widget version 2.8 (update 10-3-02 )

Thanks Digit for all your great Widgets! :+1:

Digits:

Has that interpolation thing still got you stumped? Also, I remember seeing a post by Mr. Alon that showed a ZSphere person walking in place; do you think that animation is an upcoming suprise? Next release?

sincerely,

Greg Smith

the documentation is already printed out - now all i need is some bad weather for the weekend to give it a try without minding staying indoors  - looking fantastico, Floyd!

Final release until I work on some new interface changes. I have found the new Angle and Interpolation features a lot of fun. Here is an example:

so you have set them antipasti free at zbc, too, Floyd  thats a very musicinstrument looking device, imo - and a VERY beautiful background behind it! muy bien!

Thanks once more Digits!! Looks great and can’t wait to try it out!

Thanks Juandel, Wenna I hope your road to recovery has been a smooth one, nice to hear from you.

Here is another experiment

and a different version

Once you start you can’t quit

Zif Widget Tip:

Use the “Angle New” button to quickly build a line of zspheres for manipulation

  1. Enter Distance in Slider (this uses a zsphere radius as a unit)
  2. Looking at your compass decide what direction you wish the New Zspheres to head for. 0/360 up - 180 Down 90 right 270 left etc… Set this in the XYAngle slider
  3. Decide if you want your new zspheres to come toward you or away from you. 270 toward, 90 away or anything in between. Enter this in the ZAngle slider
  4. Press “Angle New” to create a new zsphere in the direction and distance specified. Keep pressin “Angle New” to create a line of Nodes.
  5. Select Multiple Nodes by using the “Shift S” key to add nodes to your current selection and you can create multiple lines at the same time.

Of course, if you want to put a little curve to your new nodes add a little “angleincr” and/or “ZangleIncr” which will cause the line of nodes to curve each time you create a new one.

Thanks for the update. I use your widget all the time. I don’t think I have explored all the possibilities of the older version and now we have new functions, as good as getting new blocks

Your pictures look fantastic too; a new form of ornamentation, like ziff knotwork. :+1:

This looks really amazing. I’m looking forward very much to trying it out at the weekend.

Digits your images posted are ingenious and fascinating. :+1:
