ZClassroom on YouTube?

Hello,

I’m new to ZBrush and have been trying to get started using the ZClassroom learning materials on the Pixologic website. Sadly, the quality is fairly low (540 at best) and they are difficult to see some of the small buttons/menus/settings with any degree of clarity.

I see that there is a YouTube channel also, but I’ve not found the “search” to work entirely well, often having to CTRL+F5 to get it to work correctly. I wondered if anyone knew if the ZClassroom Introduction / Getting Started content that is on the website is also on the YouTube channel (where the quality might be better).

Looking some entry/beginning level playlists to munch my way through etc. I like these short 5-10 minutes intro videos they area really bite size etc.

Also, is there a way to use this forum where you can just see the text/posts/threads without all the images in this kind of gallery style? Not entirely sure how I’m going to find my own post!

Any help super appreciated.

Kind regards,

Rob

Hi @Rob_Meade Welcome to ZBrush Central.

The problem with the ZClassroom videos is that they use older versions of ZBrush, especially the getting started ones and are a bit outdated.

A better resource would be the NEW Intro to ZBrush - ZBrush for Ideation (Updated for 2020!) by Michael Pavlovich. I think this would be the place to start.

If you are referring to the Artworks Forum, not that I am aware of. You can always bookmark your topic after you create it so you can easily access it at a later date.

Hi Andy, thanks ever so much for the reply and the link.

Ref the forum, I mean this one etc. When I arrive here I see this;

As fantastic as the art is, I wondered if I can just get to a more “text” based view of the forum? Clicking on these images takes you to those posts, but if your post doesn’t have an image it in, as mine didn’t, it doesn’t seem to appear.

Again, I’m new here so probably missing something massively obvious :slight_smile:

I did find the bookmark option, I used it for that first post to which you’ve just replied, but doing that for every post will become a bit much.

Any thoughts?

Thanks again,

Rob

@Rob_Meade

When I said bookmark, I meant your browsers bookmarks and not the websites bookmarks. You can create a folder in your browser just for the topics you post.

Keep in mind that there are 9 different forums on this website which you can see under Category. The image that you posted above is the Artworks category. That forum is for artists to post their artworks and that is all it is used for and for other users to comment on the artwork. All the thumbnail images you see on that page are what is in the Artworks category only. The forum you posted this topic in is the ZBrush Usage Questions forum. Any images you post in topics that you create in this forum or any other forum that is not the Artworks forum,will not have a thumbnail posted anywhere.

Another example is the ZBC Support forum. That forum is for posting any questions that you might have regarding the websites functionality.

Hi @zber2,

Thank you for the reply and sorry for not responding sooner, I don’t seem to get notifications from the forum, something I’ll have a look at in a moment.

Thank you for the info, don’t get my wrong, the artwork is amazing, I would just like to get straight to the questions/support kind of stuff and I didn’t realise having to bookmark in the browser was going to be the way.

Thanks again :slight_smile:

I totally get the struggle with ZClassroom video quality. It’s a bummer when those tiny buttons play hide-and-seek, right?

About the YouTube channel, I’m not sure if the ZClassroom content mirrors there, but I’ve heard good things about the Pixologic YouTube channel. Maybe someone here knows if they’ve got those crisp, clear videos you’re after.

And I feel you on the forum layout – sometimes simplicity is key and interest in what is YouTube automation sounds like a tech mystery worth unraveling! Maybe there’s some YouTube magic out there automating things we didn’t even know we needed!
