Zcam: Depth Camera for Control, Would love if Zbrush could use it.

Perhaps I’m out of the loop, surprised I didn’t see this earlier and I couldn’t find a topic on this, so…

The Zcam is a “depth” camera that should be coming out sometime this year or next year, and what it does is make “You” the controller for an interface, I.E. hand gestures and movement.

Kind of like the Wii controller, except there is no controller, just a camera tracking you in z depth. Apparently it’s fast enough to track 1:1 motion and accurate enough to capture your finger motion as well.

I’ve only seen examples of it being used to control special games or navigate media center, but in theory, this tech could be used with Zbrush to allow you to actually sculpt with your hands and operate zbrush through hand and finger gestures alone.

Sound interesting? Here’s a few links on it:

There’s also a few videos around on Youtube.

Personally I’d love to see a future version of Zbrush among many other things take advantage of this.
