ZBRUSH ZSPHERES AND CINEMA 4D

im just curious. Can someone tell me how to unite the zspheres into a whole so that whn I work with it in C4D 8 its not in pieces.i mean their all together and all, and it looks fine but i notice if i try to move the mesh i wind-up moving individual parts.Even after grouping. Is there a way to make it all one piece in Zbrush? And also making seperate parts a whole in C4D?

you could also group them together in cinema4d with a null object and then move them or go into the object manager , select them all and use the Connect function to make one polygon object out of it.

  • made a simple thing with 3 ZSpheres
  • unified skin
  • export (*.obj)
  • opened in C4
  • moved the whole mesh, no breaking up at all

Seems that your “error” is not that easy to re-produce??

EDIT: C4D XL/v7.20

I am not sure I completely understand your question but it sounds to me like you are exporting the object with the subgroups option turned on. To export it as a single object go to TOOL>INVENTORY and near the bottom of the menu just above and to the right of the EXPORT button click on Grp and make sure it is off. Then export the model. It should then be a single piece. And as Namek suggests a Null object in C4D is the way to go although if you decide to texture it be aware that you may run into issues with edge breaks or seams in the texture. If you are going to connect the pieces in C4D it would just be easier to export the entire model as a single object from ZBrush from the get go.

Question. I have been following this thread and tried exporting and opening in Carrara and experienced the same breaking up problem.
I cannot find the grp submenu in zbrush.
When I open inventory all that is there is the information relating to the skinning.
Can you tell me again where it is.
Thanks.

I believe the reason that zerebrush’s test doesnt give the same problem is because he exported as a obj file …

As for JUSTNPROUD used a dfx file , I think …

If you use dfx the object gets split up in poly objects per Zsphere.

You can create one object of all these polyobjects using cinema4d’s connect method…

The Tool palette contains an Inventory sub-palette. You’ll find the Grp button there. This is by far the simplest solution to what you’re experiencing.

Found the inventory subsection
