Zbrush workflow (digital claying, retopology what's the goal of all these??)

I’m zbrush noob and just wonder where is ‘the final destination’ of all Zbrush process.

example for car modeling process to finish (not rendering)

I digital clay car shape first and then make lowpoly model out of it (using topology)

I put detail on it (lamps, intake, rims, tires, windows stuff) and subdivide for high poly (to get curvy clean surfaces)

and then what’s next??

is reason for doing digital claying just for fast shaping before retopology ? is it eventually for retopology??

if I can make lowpoly model from Zmodeler directly, then digital claying process not necessary??

I watched tons of Zbrush youtubes and don’t understand its workflow

somebody tell me loud and clear. thanx

As you observed, you could do it all in ZModeler, that’s the way a lot of us make vehicles now. Or stick with sculpting if you like, or combine sculpting and ZModeler. Any or all will work, it’s up to the individual to find a workflow that suits him or her best.

thanx for replying dillster!

in case it’s something organic shape such as character, people still do retopo at the end even if they begin with digital claying.

but recently I found that there are many shapes and forms which are very tricky to make out of Zmodeler only.

mixture of using both zmodeler and claying should be very powerful if I get used to it. ha~
