ZBrush Workflow Consultant Desired

Hello all,

I have recently left my position as an art director for the past 3 years and am returning to the hands on side of art.

I am in search of two individuals (or one individual with the necessary skill sets):

Short Term (occasionally over the next 1 - 3 months):
Professional Mentor that can work through work flow issues between ZBrush and 3ds Max 2010 with VRay as the Render Engine. Specific areas of focus are:

  • Displacement Mapping
  • Normal Mapping
  • Baking Bump Maps
  • Morph Targets

Long Term (occasionally over the next 6 months to a year starting approximately in August 2009):
Professional Mentor that can work through the same issues between ZBrush and Maya 2009 with VRay as the Render Engine. The primary difference is that this will be a more in depth relationship as I will be looking to learn Maya in general and will need specific assistance with Particle Systems, VRay Rendering, etc.

I normally learn via forum, tutorial, manual, etc., just like the rest of us, but since I have re-entered the work force as a hands-on artist the word has gotten out among my circles of influence and I am already being flooded with work so time is not a luxury that I have in abundance.

At this time I have removed ZBrush from my workflow for the most part due to problems I have had with the process that I find referenced in most tutorials not working consistantly for my projects. With that said, ZBrush is far to valuable a tool to leave from my kit for long so I need someone I can turn to for working through the immediate issues.

As to the Maya transition, I have committed to moving the bulk of my projects to Maya by January 2010 for a host of reasons I will not go into here. (I will likely always use 3ds Max to a degree as it has very strong areas)

CommitmentDesired:
I desire someone that is a true professional, punctual, dependable, has good English speaking skills, access to email with reasonable turn around time and available via phone (US or Canada) or Skype (anywhere) 1 - 2 times per week at a regularly scheduled time that works with both schedules (I can be very flexible as I work for myself).

Payment:
Once an agreeable rate is established, I will pay on a bi-weekly or monthly basis via PayPal (preferred) or check if desired.

If you are confident you have the knowledge and communication skills required, please send me a link to examples of your work and/or a tutorial created by yourself (on any subject) where I may review your methodology for teaching/mentoring.

I will be reviewing potential candidates over the next few weeks and will respond to those that I am interested in with my personal contact information.

Since we artists are all visually driven, I thought it might be helpful if I posted an example of what type of work I do so you can see how ZBrush could be helpful to my work.

I know this is not the exciting fantasy work we all love to do and review, but it is real work and there is a void in this market that I intend to fill:).

This is an unfinished test of a project I am working on for a medical lawsuit. It is a decent (compositing not competed yet) test, but I would love to move away from what I call “generalized” modeling and texturing to a more specific style of modeling and texturing that I can quickly do in ZBrush.

Doing the work in ZBrush is not really a problem since it is such an awesome tool for creatives, but getting that resulting work to translate properly to Max has been a problem thus far.
