I finally got my machine to the state where I can make pieces. Here is one of the first things I have cut from a zbrush model.

Heeeyyy, cool! Glad to see you got it working.
Hope to see more, keep it up,J.
Welcome to the club! I knew you can do it!!!
Great… now mill the heck out of that wood!
Cheers
Rainer
Thanks for the reply. @ gkarnac, “a service provider”…not intentionally
Lemo, I think I owe you one …but I don’t know which one.
jmeyer, some of your pieces need to be machined.
Here are a few pics of the machine during construction and testing. I had to use a 3 Hp spindle because of power limitations at this time. It was designed with a 8.2 Hp unit. It looks a bit like a rat rod now because I couldn’t wait to play with it. Cosmetic finishing will come later. Don’t have a vac system so I put a partially built studio fan behind it and just blow the dust out the door! (don’t have neighbors). I had the space and the material so I built it big. The usable area is about the size of a Ford Pinto (American standard) or 1600 mm X 3000 mm X 1200mm (rest of the world standard).

This is awesome, Congrats
You should be able to mill any material with it, or just for wood?
Did you design and build the machine? or order a kit? any info about it would be great
and what cnc software did you use?
Thanks in advance for your time and knowledge
and again, congrats on getting it up n running
Cheers,
Andy
This is great, I have a tiny machine, 8 x 10 inches and just purchased zbrush to build models for my architectural work in a similar pipeline… anytips?
also is that a 5 axis machine?
Looks like it is a single axis
Tungerz, I designed and built it for wood only. It’s not heavy enough for metal. I use DeskProto to write the toolpath and Mach3 to run the machine.
DeskProto is one of the best apps I’ve used. It has a very intuitive user interface and it’s the right price.
holyjewsus; the only tip I have is to jump in and do it. My machine is a four axis, I haven’t put the tail stock on in these pictures. 5 axis is more than “one step beyond”
Thanks for comments, I will post new things as I make them.
Awesome, thanks for the info, 4axis is cool, that is going to crank out some amazing pieces.
Thanks again
Cheers,
Andy
