Zbrush to substance causing slow down

Hey Everyone,

I’ve got a problem I’m hoping I can get some help with.

I created a model in zbrush, and used uv master to create all of the uv’s. My character model has about 30 different subtools, and zbrush creates a separate tile for each subtool (so I’ve got 30 uv tiles) and I tried pulling it into substance this way, but it caused substance to lag horribly, and it crashed when I tried to bake the high res model. I’m guessing the issue is the amount of texture sets I have. Does anyone have a suggestion on the best way to either combine those texture sets in zbrush? Or maybe pull my fbx into Maya and then reproject again in zbrush?

Any thoughts or suggestions will help. Thank you!

Its usually a good idea to break your model down to 2 or 3 parts for baking if it is complex. How the model is broken down depends on its construction. You can bake in substance painter without having to use a cage but you have to make sure that the pieces are whole and not adjacent, or you get anomalies.
Here is a breakdown I did with a character. The piece is broken into 3 texture sets.

I think your suspicions are corect in that 30 texture sets is a bit over the top. Try and optimize your model more until you are down to fewer parts.
Cheerio
