Zbrush to Maya V-Ray Displacement

Hey peeps,

I’ve been working on some characters here:

And unfortunately I cant seem to figure out the right workflow for making the displacement work in Maya (V-Ray). I have follow all the tutorials I have found in YouTube and just nope. 32Bit maps 16 bit maps, objects at scale, nothing.

If anyone could share some tips that would be immensely helpful.

Cheers,

It seems that I had a scaling issue. Taken from another site: When you import a model from mudbox/zbrush and you scale it inside maya either to pose it better, or to fit your scene, or scale in animation too…you need to adjust the alpha gain accordingly which is the intensity

That and some export settings in Zbrush I could improve.

Are you saying you can’t get any disp maps, or that they aren’t good enough? Are you using GoZ or manually linking the maps? The default settings should get you close and then try adjusting some settings- check out online tuts- V Ray may require some adjustments within Maya

Hey Ted, thanks for the reply, I was plugging everything manually and did resolved it by fixing the alpha gain according to the scaling of the object. :+1:
