Zbrush sliding topology on surface

Hello
I’m looking for a way to slide topology on surface without losing or changing the volume of the mesh.
Move brush that keeps the volume and maybe smooth brush which is relaxing topology without changing the silhouette.
Like “Constraint to surface” in Maya.
Is there a way?

If your mesh is fairly low poly with no subD levels, you can slide elements along the surface as you describe with the Zmodeler brush, exactly as you could in a traditional polygonal modeler.

If your mesh is high poly or with subD levels, you can use the Slide brush in the main brush palette for similar, though much more limited, results. It’s best to use this brush in short movements, as longer ones will eventually leave the surface.

Thanks for the reply.
I was always wondering, what’s the Slide brush?? It behaves more like snakehook rather than anything else.
Maybe i just don’t know how to use it??
Zmodeler seems to work only for super small incriments/or super low poly and it is not very practical for most cases.

If you are familiar with Maya, then you have sculpting tools (+ vertex soft selection option), that can just drag topology along the surface, as you
expect it to do. And also relax brush that can keep volume. In zbrush, it seems to be not that well rounded function.
Any chance to get this feature fixed or have a second look at it?

Zmodeler works for any mesh of the sort of polycount you could work comfortably on in a traditional polygonal modeling program. It’s a modeling tool. Not sure why it’s only working for you in “super small increments”. This sounds like a separate issue.

The slide brush does have limitations, which I mentioned above, but behaving like a “snakehook” brush is not how I’d describe it. I did say you needed to make small movements with it, or it would leave the contour of the surface. If you have the correct brush, it sounds like something else is going on.

If you’re unable to get what you want from these tools, then no, what you want is not possible in ZB at present.

Hi, thanks. Yeah, it looks like there’s no good tool for what i’m trying to achieve in here.
However, i have a workaround i’ve been using in some cases. Duplicate subtool -> edit original mesh/topology-> project edited area. Kind of works… Could be improved, tho.
