Hi guys! I’m pretty new to Zbrush, so I’m trying to sculpt this cube over here but any idea why whenever I try to sculpt it, everything appeared to be so square/ cube look?
Hello @Jeuras,
In ZBrush, how smooth the mesh appears to be is a function of the mesh resolution, or how many/how small the polygons are. In this situation you are getting that look because you have smoothed or sculpted the polygons out of their planar configuration, into a more rounded or organic shape where the polygons are all catching the light at different angles and revealing their low resolution. The mesh resolution is too low to maintain a smooth looking appearance in that shape. If there were many more polygons in that area, it would look smoother.
You can:
-
Subdivide the mesh which will add Subdivision Levels, and increase the smooth appearance of the mesh.
-
Enable Sculptris Pro mode which will actually add geometry in real time as you make the stroke. This will require you to work at only a single level of subdivision.
-
In some situations, chiefly low poly modelling, Dynamic Subdivision can also be used which will allow you to preview the mesh as if it were subdivided, without adding additional subdivision levels. This comes with a performance tax though, so it generally isn’t well suited for sculpting on anything but lower resolution meshes.
Good luck!
Gotcha! thanks a lot! That solved my problem!
