ZBrush screen size

Is there a way to set the screen size in zbrush to adjust itself to my monitor size with out fiddling with it every I start it up? Unless I minimize and reopen ZBrush the edges cannot be seen and the controls/memory messages are hidden. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Matt

What OS and how big is your monitor? http://pixologic.com/zbrush/system/

I once had this issue with a previous version of Zbrush on Windows 7, and if I recall, I solved it by right clicking on the zbrush .exe, going to Properties> compatibility tab, and activating the “Disable desktop composition” box. Ironically, if I do that now it actually causes the issue you have.

I have no idea if that’s your problem, or if you’re even on Windows. You should always include OS information and Zbrush version when positng about an issue of this nature.

If you press ‘Restore’ in the top right of the ZBrush window until the window goes to a smaller size you will then be able to drag the edges to re-size. Scale and position it so that it is just smaller than your monitor full screen, then store the configuration (Shift+Ctrl+i). On restart the ZBrush screen should be at this size.

I have this same issue on Mac OSX. Even after saving my setup it’s slightly off, a minor annoyance I’ve gotten used to as there are a lot of issues I have saving my setups. :frowning:

I am using Win 7 64 bit. 22" monitor set to 1680x1050. ZBrush 4R6.

Here’s a macro that may help if the other solutions do not.

Save the file to your ZStartup\Macros\Misc folder. Press Macro>Reload All Macros and you will have a new ‘ResizeWindow’ button in the Macro>Misc subpallette.

Important Note: the macro resizes the ZBrush window to one pixel less than the screen res. It’s designed for a resolution of 1680x1050, so the file will need editing in a text editor for a different resolution.

If you store a configuration make sure the ZBrush window is maximised first. If the stored window size is the same as the macro then it will not work.

Download here:

Pressing the macro button will resize the ZBrush window. Assign a hotkey to the macro button to make it easy to use.

Thank you Marcus!
