Zbrush Production Class @ Studio Arts Los Angeles

Hi All i am glad to announce that I will be teaching a class @ Studio Arts School In Los Angeles http://www.studioarts.tv/StudioArts2005/aboutus.html

This will be an in depth class on the uses of Zbrush in a Feature Film production Environment. we will start from the basics of Zbrushes “Misunderstood” GUI to really advanced topics focused on the uses of Zbrush in Real-World production uses. The class will focus on the importance of getting your Zbrush work back into Maya by using a smart approach to modeling, rendering and texturing.

I am a Creature Modeler/ texture Artist @ luma pictures in Los Angeles and have used Zbrush intensively for Underworld 2 Evolution where I have learned the advantages and pitfalls of using Zbrush for feature film use. we @ luma use and abuse Zbrush and it has become an essential part of our production pipeline… before Underworld i worked on misc models for The Cave again using Zbrush whenever i could…

Topics Discussed:
. Zbrush Interface
. Intuitive approach to modeling from Zspheres to traditional approaches
. Re surfacing meshes for animation
. Photorealistic texturing in Zbrush
. Zbrush For animation, Blendshapes, Corrective blendshapes, Animated Displacement Maps
. Rendering in Maya’s Mental Ray
. Displacement and Normal Mapping for Film and Games

If you contact them over at Studio Arts and let them know youre part of the Zbrush Central Forum they will give you a break on the cost of the class which is great…

anyways before i start feeling like an infomercial… im off to my werewolves and vampires.

Congrats Miguel! Looks like you’re keeping pretty busy! If I was in LA I’d be there.

Damn… I’m trying to get the guy that teaches 3d at my school to look at Zbrush, but he keeps ignoring it. And me for that matter… (It’s the SAE institute in Amsterdam )

Amazing and still amazing!!!

The creature reminds me the Boris Karloff’ Frankenstein.Do you know it?Very creepy…

It’s in your project some pic of the Black Lagoon Monster(or the Werewolf)?

That would be a real dream for me.

MattHHH:cool:

that is great… wish i could be there

Great work.
Uh, if anything interest me is resurfacing zbrush models for animation. Wish I could come… if there are any links that can help me… Please.

Yes it is def inspired by Karloff, but not exactly the samealthough i would like to do the likeness to match…for the body i used miles teves van helsing concepts as inspiration… BIG FAN of his work… … i have a great bust by his that i can use as reference if i did want to take the likeness of karloff further… and yes that is the creature from the black lagoon, i am very inspired by the classic monsters from universal, the thought of them scaring people back then, when now they seem so tame is what i love about em.

i would really like to do a realistic likeness of bela lugosi as dracula next…wish i could get sone good orthos of him to use…if anyone has some shoot em over…

glad you guys like it… and very gratefull for getting it featured on top… thanks again yall, again this is a WIP so it is in no way a final piece…

Miguel
