Zbrush only "thinks" when it is the active program?

Hey guys,

I noticed that when opening Zbrush 3 and, say, surfing the web on the secondary screen while waiting for Zbrush to open, it will freeze and stop “thinking” until I click on it to make Zbrush 3 the main active program again.

Also, when loading or saving models, I must leave Zbrush 3 as the active program and not do anything else while it loads/saves, or else it may freeze. (Take 100% of my CPU and make the computer very slow unless I shut it down via the Device Manager)

Is there a way to solve this problem?

Thanks!

nope…well least not until the updates i think…

am impressed it should up in your device manager.

i can only get it to show up in processes and in case of lock ups…that is how i have to shut it down.

and yeah if i try to load…go surf to wait …come back and click on zb screen…it seems to finish loading but poof…close/crashes instead. have confidence the quirks will be adjusted soon enuf tho.

Actually I was referring to the proccesses tab, hehe

And thanks for the information, glad to know its a problem thats about to be fixed and not something thats wrong with my computer :stuck_out_tongue:

Experienced this as well. Not sure WHAT is up. Can we lose the splash screen or have the option to do so with the next patch? Never use it at all. Another thing is that when Zbrush is full screen it will not allow my taskbar to stay on top so i have to click the double boxed icon so i can manually drag the GUI about but then it’s damn near impossible to drag it so the bottom aligns with the taskbar…like every other app out there. I understand that Zbrush is awesome…but please don’t force its awesomeness on me in the form of splash screens and full screen hogging. It has to share like everyone else

ZBrush is very highly integrated with your system’s resources, and pushes them to the limits. It therefore automatically goes into sleep mode when it’s not the focus. This frees up resources for whatever other application you’re currently switched to, and it also avoids potential errors caused by multitasking with large data sets.

Regarding the Welcome Screen, there is a setting in Preferences>Misc to skip it. However, there is a known issue with this right now and it should not be enabled until after the forthcoming update. (So you will be able to skip it soon, but not yet.)

Thanks for the reply Aurick. Is there any way we can get Zbrush’s interface to not take over the taskbar but to maximize as other apps do? Perhaps a preference toggle to have it be full screen if the user wants would be doable by the next update? Again, thanks for the reply.
