just saw this, oh where the imagination takes one, fantasizing about using z on something like this. anyone ever tried something similar?
doesn’t support much tho.

for a product supposedly designed for gamers…they sure don’t support em…no 64bit, no opengl, no dual monitor…grrrrrr.
would be interesting to see zbrush on it tho…would be kinda freaky at first i think
Hello!
About what we support:
We are currently developing OpenGL support, and it shouldn’t be too long.
It technically is possible to use more than one monitor with the iZ3D at one time, and has been done by some users on our forums. Although, our monitor requires 2 Inputs for 3D mode, so you would need to have a total of 3 inputs at least for dual.
Our monitor is also able to function as an oridinary monitor if necessary, with one input.
We have had reports of customers using multiple video cards at one time as well.
It is just kind of an advanced tactic to some computer users, and also depends on several things with the User’s computer configuration. This is why we cannot officially support it.
If you have any questions, feal free to post them on our forums, and we should be able to answer them.

what about 64bit?
also i’m not sure zbrush would even work in 3d on these, its not opengl. hmm.
Hello Spaceboy!
64Bit is still currently in development, but is definitely planned.
Is Zbrush DirectX then?
Our monitor Primarily is for DirectX 8 and 9 Applications/Games (10 soon), and basically every game is DirectX except for some Smaller indy projects, and older games.
I’ll ask our Research and Development office to see if they have any experience with Zbrush if it is In fact DirectX
Ok, I talked to our RnD department, and they said they have not specifically tested ZBrush,
But, I was able to find the 30 trial download, so we will try to test ZBrush our selves. I’ll let you know the results.

I asked IZ3D about support for 3D CC apps a while back. They were very helpful and even tested the so-called “ZBrush LITE” that comes from Russia for me (3D-Brush). Yes, because of the Direct3D viewport, it did work on their monitor OK, but with some issues. I can dig up the correspondence, if anyone’s interested. I also asked Zalman about their stereo monitor and it’s use with 3D apps. I didn’t get far with them at all. I think there is a language gap; they’re Korean, I’m pretty sure. And, their big target market is gamers.
It’d be cool if SpatialView hooked up with Pixologic for a bonafide plugin. Supposedly the one for C4D is awesome… real-time editing in stereo 3D without headaches. If real-time stereo and ZBrush ever came together, it would quite the event in my book, but then I am a 3D stereo nut with a burning desire to edit in stereo 3D. A lot of people poo-poo the idea just on principle, I’ve found. Stereo 3D is the up ‘n’ comin’ thing, though. It’s not just a fad anymore.
MTBS is a site for 3D stereo enthusiasts, if you’re interested. IZ3D is a sponsor there.
Well, they did some testing on the trial, and said from what they saw, it neither uses OpenGL OR DirectX 8,9
So, this can make it a bit more of a job to implement. Just wait though, we are always updating our drivers. So you never know what could turn up.
Cool.
I can actually envision gigantic versions of IZ3D technology for theatres, backlit no less; super HD digital stereo 3D. No film. Whoa.
That would be a site to see indeed!
Would take some large LCD panels though! haha.
–Charlie
WAY big LCD panels.
Someone will think of something. Flexible 3D LCD screenage, bulk, on giant rolls, sold by the square foot for home, theatres and offices that need fake vistas instead of windows. lol. Probably not far though from what will eventually happen.
