ZBRUSH often crashing when working on a partialy hidden mesh

Is this a known issue? It’s been happening alot lately and I get a bit reluctant to work in partialy hidden mode because of this.

Though could the crashes be a result of my ram? I’m running 4gb ddr1 ram which might not be enough. Also running zbrush on a 64-bit system so not sure if that would be alot more unstable than running on a 32-bit os. any insight on this would be great.

Short answer-yes, it’s bug, weird bug, independent of os, ram etc.Waiting for zb 4

I’m sorry, but no!! This is not a typical bug no matter what OS. Especially not when having parts of your mesh hidden. Is your ZB crashing when hiding or when trying to bring everything back? Also what’s the Polygon count of the mesh? To me it sounds more like a memory issue.

Yes, it is memory issue. I am also faced. Then I compromised in subdividing.
If you use default level of subdivisions, then u will not face this problem.

[level.jpg](javascript:zb_insimg(‘202064’,‘level.jpg’,1,0))

Don’t increase manually the maximum polygon count from “Mem” options.
If u try to increase, it will cause the above problem.

Best suggestion is,

use default values, and use HD Geometry to minute detailed sculpting.

Sorry, I must refine my answer. Zb has frequent crushes while you work with masks (bluring them) on partialy hidden mesh independently of its polygin count. These bug was discussed before. I think is the true reason of zenonithuse’s problem. Simple sculpting don’t cause zb crush on partialy hidden mesh.

No problem man,

i knew what you were referring to, but i still wouldn’t call it a bug because since ZB 3.5 i don’t have that problem anymore. In ZB 3.1 i had constant crashes though …
