a lot of my older models are messed up after loading. This problem doesn’t appear with the models that I have created in the newest version of zbrush (R7P3) .

Is this a known problem? How to fix it?

You need to load them in a earlier version of zbrush and re-save them back out. 4r6 worked for me.
