ZBrush loses it's brain. (Forgets import export preferences after a tpose)

This has happened twice this week. ZBrush forgets the flip settings in exporting subtools to obj when using subtool master.

  1. You tpose a character. Everything works perfectly.

  2. You use subtool master — export option to export all subtools.

  3. ZBrush loses it’s brain and exports everything flipped upside down the wrong way.

Something during the tpose process, somewhere is removing the ‘flip’ settings in the import export options, making all the subtools export the wrong way.

This is a nasty suprise on a late night working, as you then have to go back, reload your old file, and try to re-export everything, making sure ZBrush has remembered the DEFAULT export settings. The settings I as a user never adjust or touch.

Please fix Pixologic thx.

Hello @Regnan

Subtool Master exports for me as expected, according to the Export flip settings. A mesh set to export with Y and Z fliped imports back into Zbrush upside down and rear facing. Note that Zbrush has import flip settings active by default too that must be disabled to see this.

I’m uncertain how the use of Transpose Master could affect this. You may need to elaborate a bit more on what “you Tpose a character” means, and what exactly you’re trying to export. Are you exporting the Tpose mesh? Are you exporting the original tool after the Tpose mesh changes have been applied to it?

Are you basing the export results on the way it appears in an external program? Note that every program may reckons its worldspace differently, and may have its own import/export settings affecting the import of the mesh.

Ultimately, technical issues must be reported to Pixologic Support if you would like them to receive attention. Reporting them on the community boards won’t place them in the hands of the developers. If you’re sure you have a repeatable issue, it must be reported there if you’d like it fixed.

Good luck!
