There is a really odd thing which happens to my internet from time to time. I can’t access anything… not even Google, but I can access This forum. This happens about once a month or so. I try re-setting my router but usually the only thing is to wait a few hours. This is really annoying when I have some important business.

Right now I can only access this forum and I have some job-hunting to do.

Does anyone else get something like this? It there an explanation? Why is it only this forum which I can view?

It is really bizzar :confused: … enough to make me paranoid.

Hmm. There are some tests you can to such as trying to ping other sites and using the dos command tracert

But one thing seems relevant is that this forum uses a numeric ip, not a resolved hostname, so your DNS providers may be down.

Thanks for the info… I didn’t understand a word of it but thanks. I guess It is out of my hands and I just have to wait until the DNS is up?

Your ISP handles your dns. DNS makes it possible to type in www.cnn.com and go there instead of typing 64.236.16.84 So if you find you can’t get to any sites, but you can get here, then call your ISP and tell them.
