Zbrush has become my reawakened obsession

recently zbrush has become a reawakened hobby. usually i’m a comic creator but i enjoy sculpting and have a t times experimented with combining zbrush and illustration.

not being a very technical artist and avoiding unwrapping like the plague that it is i jumped on the whole redshift in zbrush thing and while it has incredible potential i must admit… it’s hairpullingly frustrating at times XD

but that’s mostly because i don’t know what the settings are and am learning via the tried and tested f-around find out method XD

so yesterday i did some testing with one of my recent works in progress. sculpting is nowhere near doen yet on their faces and bodies and some of the gear but i swear, seeing them with redshift spitshine applied makes me very happy.

potential is truly immense with this thing, odd bugs aside.

still not clear on how to get the skin shading to work right. like, at some point i stumble upon something close to good and then 5 minutes later i can’t figure out how i did it XD

kingdom for tutorials XD

Great work ! the expressions, the anatomy and the details seems very good. You should make it justice by posting more pictures of it. :+1: :+1:

definitely as soon as i figure out more of this redshift nonsense, last few days were me yelling at the sliders trying to get sss to properly work in zbrush… i really wanna do a turnaround animation of this and a few other current works in progress

Great work, amazing expressions too, one can tell you’ve got years of knowledge under your brush strokes. Can’t wait to see more of this project

some further experimentations, worked on setting up some more materials and figuring out emission materials as well.
in fact last week was pretty much me updating a bunch of current work in progress sculpts with new fancy materials

a lot of potential with redshift but we desperately need a map slot for gloss and scatter depth at least.

still the integration is still new so i’m sure that too will come along

and who knows, maybe by the time it does i’ll actually finish some of these. XD

Excellent work. I doubt i will use Redshift in the next future but it’s good to see it at work.

Awesome experiments @aquilar. Thanks for sharing

been multitasking some more because gotta have an unmanageable amount of works in progress

thank god i’m never gonna be a professional with this stuff because i’m too scatterbrained. still, some of them are nearing completion

well, my redshift renderer unbugged itself so now i feel motivated to go back and advance some of my sculpts. currently messing around with detailing my godzilla sculpt. it’s a full body piece but atm i’m tunelvisioned on completing the head and neck area
